Tiaro
is located within the Wide Bay Region of
southeast Queensland, Australia, between the
Regional centres Gympie and Maryborough and close
access to Hervey Bay and Fraser
Island.
The Tiaro district is predominantly
rural in nature, with a number of small townships
distributed throughout the agricultural areas of
the shire. Population in 2001 numbered
4,533.
The region is rich in natural beauty spots
and tourist
attractions. Timber, transport,
electronics, and tourist facilities are among the
many Tiaro
businesses.
In 1997 the Tiaro Shire Promotion
and Development Association was formed
with the aim of promoting the Shire. This
website is one of the Association's
initiatives. And of course Tiaro has a
variety of Community
